Learn the art and science behind candlemaking at workshop on Feb. 5 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska. This four-hour workshop will teach students 12 and older how to make three different types of candles, from start to finish. All materials are provided. The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska is hosting a spring-break aviation camp, Challengers ACE Academy, for students in grades 8-11. The camp will have an orientation flight for all attendees, and include hands-on experience with Medallion flight simulator, wing design, forces of flight, weather and other aviation topics. CLCA is an approved vendor for Connections and IDEA. This camp will also satisfy many of the requirements for aviation related badges for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. ACE runs Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and costs $275. Participants should bring their own lunch each day. The Challenger center is located at 9711 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai.
