The Kenai Central hockey team picked up a North Star Conference victory in Homer on Tuesday. The Kardinals received two goals from Zack Mese and a shutout from Keegan Remsen in the 4-0 victory.
Dylan Hendricks scored in the first period, on an assist from Steven Harding. In the second, Mese scored unassisted to make the lead 2-0, then Tyler Cannon scored on an assist from TJ Wagoner. Mese finished up the scoring in the third on an assist from Matt Morse.
Remsen had 12 saves, including a pair of point-blank saves in the first period that allowed the Kardinals to keep control of the game. Alex Sanarov had 32 saves for the Mariners.

The game times of the Soldotna varsity basketball teams have been changed on Saturday. The girls play at Palmer High School at 4 p.m., while the boys play at 5:30 p.m.
The Cook Inlet Academy girls basketball team won the Mount St. Elias Basketball Tournament in Yakutat on Saturday.
At the tournament, the Eagles beat the Sitka JV 42-36 Thursday, lost to Klawock 40-38 Friday and defeated Yakutat 56-48 Saturday.
The CIA boys finished 3-1 at the tournament. The Eagles beat Yakutat 54-30 Wednesday, beat Hoonah 71-62 Thursday, beat Sitka JV 69-57 Friday and lost to Klawock 65-51 Saturday.
