NEW YORK (AP) -- Detroit defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom led all players in fan balloting for the NHL All-Star game, receiving 211,486 votes to earn a spot Saturday in World team's starting lineup for the Feb. 2 game in Los Angeles.
The Swedish star will be joined on the World team by Red Wings center Sergei Fedorov of Russia and goalie Dominik Hasek of the Czech Republic. Detroit coach Scotty Bowman will direct the team.
Red Wings left wing Brendan Shanahan led voting for the North American squad with 165,184. He will be joined in the starting lineup by fellow winger Owen Nolan of San Jose, goalie Patrick Roy of Colorado, defensemen Rob Blake of Colorado and Chris Pronger of St. Louis, and San Jose center Vincent Damphousse (89,139).
Pat Quinn of Toronto will coach the North American squad.
Lidstrom will play alongside Carolina defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh. The starting World forward line will consist of Fedorov and wingers Teemu Selanne of San Jose and Jaromir Jagr of Washington.
The remaining players will be announced Wednesday.
