Kenai-East game has time change

The Kenai Central High School girls basketball team will host East Thursday. The junior varsity game will be at 5:30 p.m., while the varsity game will be at 7 p.m. This is change from the original schedule.

North Dakota ties Alaska-Anchorage

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Tim Skarperud had two goals for North Dakota and Steve Cygan scored twice for Alaska-Anchorage as the teams skated to a 4-4 tie on Saturday.

Most of the scoring came in the first period, which ended 3-3.

North Dakota (10-11-2, 5-9-2 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) defensemen Andy Schneider and Aaron Schneekloth scored on the power play, and Skarperud scored while the Sioux had a two-man advantage.

Cygan's goals both came in the first period, and Joe Garvin also scored for the Seawolves (7-9-4, 6-7-3).

Skarperud's second goal was the only score of the second period. Mike Scott sent the game into a scoreless overtime on a Seawolves power play midway through the third period.

Josh Siembida stopped 19 shots for North Dakota. Kevin Reiter had 20 saves for Alaska-Anchorage.

Alaska-Fairbanks tops Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Tom Herman scored two goals -- one in an empty net -- to lead Alaska-Fairbanks to a 3-1 win over Michigan on Saturday night.

The Wolverines beat Fairbanks 7-0 on Friday night.

Nikiski hockey drops two games

The Nikiski hockey team dropped games Thursday and Friday at the Jason Peterson Memorial Ice Rink in Nikiski.

Thursday, Wasilla dealt the Bulldogs a 5-1 decision in nonconference action. The Warriors' Ryan Syverston connected for a pair of goals in the game. Nikiski's lone goal came from Zack Womack, on an assist from Nick Russell.

Friday, Houston handed the Bulldogs a 4-1 defeat. Nikiski was outshot by just 26-22 and went into the third period down 1-0, but couldn't pull the game out in the end. Wade Williams had a pair of goals for the Hawks, while Brad Harrison, on assists from Todd Brigham and Josh Pepper, accounted for the lone Nikiski tally.
