The Kodiak girls and the Cook Inlet Academy boys won first place in the Kodiak High School Booster Club Junior Varsity Basketball Tournament Thursday through Saturday. Both teams closed out their respective tournaments with 3-0 records.
Girls Hoop Shoot winner was Soldotna's Brittany Howard with 59 out a possible 75 shots, and the boys champ was CIA's Brian Powers with 63 out of 75 shots. Chantal Reese, of CIA, won the girls 3-point contest.
Among the girls All-tournament teams were Soldotna's Brandi Denna, Brittany Howard and Stacey Foster and CIA's Mandy Evans and Chantal Reese.
Boys All-tournament teams included CIA's Justin Franchino, Brian Powers, Jacob Peterson and tournament most valuable player Calder Hillyer. Chris Mussman of Soldotna was also named to the All-tournament team.

Palmer girls 46, Seward 31
After scoring just 15 points in the first half, the Moose dumped in 19 points in the third period to take control of the game. Seward scored just three points in the third quarter and fell into a 34-17 hole.
Emilee Bolling paced the Moose with 11 points, while Ruth Banse dumped in 10 points for Seward.
