United Way hoping for New Year's push

Posted: Tuesday, January 13, 2004

The United Way campaign is almost 60% of the way to meeting their $550,000 goal for the current campaign chaired by Rod Cason of Tesoro. The old year went out with a $35,000 boost from a corporate Conoco/Phillips donation to United Way. The Corporate contribution is in addition to Conoco/Phillips employee contributions, which are yet to calculated. Lindsey Clark and Scott Jepsen of Conoco/Phillips presented the greatly appreciated check at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce.

That's the good news according to Amy Manuel, United Way executive director. However, according to the latest tabulations, the campaign is right at 59% of the annual goal with most of the major contributions and pledges being tabulated. "That means we are going to need a big push between now and April 15th by individuals, community members and new contributors in order to meet this year's goal," said Manuel.
