Sterling resident David John Chapman died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 due to injuries sustained in a car accident. He was 43.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai, 5839 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai. Mr. Chapman's sister, Tracy Poppie, will officiate.

Mr. Chapman was born April 6, 1964 to Robert Chapman and Diane Croft in St. Paul, Minn. He attended Kenai Central High School. He became an Alaska resident in 1976 and has lived in Soldotna and Sterling ever since. He enjoyed woodworking and art.

His family writes, " He was an extremely talented artist. He loved his children and his family. He will be missed by so many."

He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Daniel and Irene Chapman; maternal grandfather, Edward Helstern; uncle, Dennis Chapman; step-paternal grandfather, George Croft.

Mr. Chapman is survived by his life partner, Angela Robinson, of Sterling; sons, Daniel and William Chapman of Kenai; daughters, Christina, of Colorado, and Sierra and Suwannee Chapman of Sterling; step-son Wes Chapman of Anchorage; sisters, Terri Kunz and her husband, Martin, of Nikiski, Tracy Poppie and her husband, William, of Kent, Wash., and Tammy Glaves and her husband, Steve, of Soldotna; brothers, Daniel of Anchorage, Dennis of Winters, Calif., and Lawrence Croft and his wife, Lisa, of Homer; step-father Lawrence Croft Sr. of Kenai; grandmother Norma Helstern of Cumberland, Wis.; step-grandmother Lorraine Croft of Kenai; aunt Rebecca Heintz of Soldotna, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of David to Angela Robinson C/O Tammy Glaves, P.O. Box 214 Kenai, Alaska 99611.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
