Gloria and Roger Whitaker

Roger and Gloria Whitaker of Soldotna were married Jan. 11, 1958, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The couple moved to Alaska in 1969 as missionaries in Port Graham. From there they moved to Kenai and were pastors at the Kenai Bible Church. They then moved to Eagle, on the Yukon River, for three years. Roger joined the Alaska State Troopers and the couple remained in Eagle for two years and then moved to Tok.

After Tok, the couple settled in Soldotna where Roger retired from the Troopers in 1990. He has been employed with Columbia Paint in Soldotna since 1991.

Gloria helped raise the family that now includes 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She has been employed at West Chiropractic Clinic in Soldotna since 1980.
