Robertia leads area at Copper Basin

Colleen Robertia led peninsula mushers with a 15th-place finish at the Copper Basin 300, which concluded late Monday and early Tuesday. Jeff King won the race.

Also from the peninsula, rookie Kristy Berington of Kasilof was 17th, Belgian Sam Deltour (who is affiliated with Mitch Seavey of Sterling and Seward) was 21st and rookie Jane Faulkner of Soldotna took the red lantern. Brennan Norden, of Kasilof, scratched.

Kenai Little League hosts clinics

The Kenai Little League will be hosting indoor clinics at Kenai Middle School on Mondays from 6 to 9 p.m. This clinic is for ages 9 and up. Clinics will meet every Monday starting Jan. 11 through March except when school is not in session or canceled.

Clinics for younger players will take place starting at the end of February. Times and location will be announced at a later time.

Wallyball tourney set for Feb. 13

There will be a Valentine's Wallyball tournament at the Kenai Recreation Center on Feb. 13. Wallyball is a 3-on-3 game. There will be women vs. women, men vs. men and coed.

The games start at 10 a.m. and will end at 5 p.m. To receive a T-shirt, rosters and fees are due by Jan. 27 at 10 p.m. Late registration will mean no T-shirt. No rosters will be accepted after Feb. 5. The cost is $15 per player, or $45 per team.

Tsalteshi to hold youth ski program

The Tsalteshi Trails Association will hold a youth ski program Jan. 16 to March 6. Registration forms and more information are available at

The program is for ages 6 to 12. The cost is $90 per child, plus a Tsalteshi Trails Association membership. There is a discount for the second child.
