Polar Plunge this Saturday

The inaugural Central Peninsula Polar Plunge takes place Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Daubenspeck Park, down Marathon road, in Kenai. Money raised at the plunge will go to Youth Restoration Corps Friends of Athletes with Disabilities, Youth Restoration Corps, Kenai Peninsula Native Youth Olympic Wolf Pack team and Bridges Community Resource Network. Youth indoor soccer starting

The Boys and Girls Club is accepting registrations for Indoor Soccer for youth ranging from 4-years-old to 5th grade. The child must be 4 by Feb. 4. The season runs from March 21 to May 7. Cost is $60, and the child must be a 2011 member. Membership cost is $10 for kindergarten and under, $75 for 1st to 5th grades. The registration deadline is Feb. 4 at 4 p.m. Registrations are taken at the Kenai Recreation Center, or fax to 283-4675. For more information call 283-3318.

It's fiesta time

Sterling Head Start, in cooperation with the Sterling Community Club, is hosting a Fiesta. It will include a Mexican dinner, variety show and auction on Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Sterling Senior Center. Chef Michael Even is preparing the meal and the Skyview volleyball team will be serving. Tickets are $25 at Sterling Head Start, CBC Rentals, Alaska Wedding Brokers and Sedona Florist. Relay for Life kicks off

A kick-off party for the 2011 Relay for Life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 20. The party is an opportunity for teams and individuals to sign up and learn about fundraising for the 2011 relay, which will be June 3 and 4. The event will be at the Kenai Merit Inn, 260 S. Kenai Coast Guard Auxiliary meets

The Kenai Flotilla will hold its first business meeting of the new year on Saturday at 1 p.m., in the conference room of the ERS building, 310 Wilson Way, Soldonta. This is open to the public. The new Flotilla Commander will be sworn in and refreshments will be served. Anyone interested in boating safety or the group's volunteer public service is encouraged to attend.
