The Governor's Emergency Medical Services Research/Administrator Award is given to an individual who successfully develops a new approach, technique or device to improve Emergency Medical Services in Alaska, or to an outstanding administrator in the EMS field.
Former Seldovia City Mayor, Sue Hecks was recently selected for the award in recognition of her leadership of the Kenai Peninsula EMS Council. Ms Hecks has served as a pre-hospital care provider, instructor, manager, and administrator in emergency services and has worked on issues regarding volunteer recruitment and retention. In a commending resolution passed unanimously by the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly last week, Hecks was congratulated for winning the Governor's Award for 2002 and singled out for her dedication, strength, vision and commitment which have greatly impacted the emergency medical services within the Kenai Peninsula Borough.
