Kenai resident Anna J. Nelson died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at her home in Kenai. She was 83.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Kenai Bible Chapel. Additional services and burial will be held in Park City, Utah.
Mrs. Nelson was born May 29, 1920, in Bonanza. She lived in Anchorage, Seward, Kenai, Nome and Golovin. She left Alaska in 1945 and returned in 1978. She worked as a waitress and cook.
Mrs. Nelson was Methodist and enjoyed fishing, sewing and bingo and loved children. She also enjoyed berry picking and was a great storyteller.
"She was loved by everyone she met. Everyone knew her as 'Grandma.' She was very strong in her faith and belief in God and loved being with her family," her family said.
Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband, David M. Nelson; sons, Sonny David M. Nelson Jr. and David Boyd Nelson; and a grandson, Matthew David Nelson.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Sara Nelson of Grayland, Wash., Joseph and Judy Nelson of Midway, Utah, Ronald and Afton Nelson of West Port, Wash., Donald and Mary Nelson of Seward, Bobby L. and Dora Nelson of Kenai and Larry Nelson of Anchorage. She also is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
