Public health center to close for holiday

The Kenai Public Health Center will be closed Monday, Jan. 17, in observance of Martin Luther King Day. The center will reopen Tuesday at 8 a.m. Call 335-3400 for more information.

Cribbage tournament now on

The 17th annual Kenai Peninsula cribbage tournament runs on Saturdays at 3 p.m. until April 30 at the American Legion in Kenai, which is at 902 Cook Street. Members of the public are welcome to participate. For more information call Raymond at 776-5688 or Bob at 776-5339.

Craft extravaganza on tap

Ladies Take-A-Break, Stonecroft Ministries Vital Network of Women, is hosting a Cabin Fever Craft Extravaganza on Jan. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. There will be demonstrations of photo album construction, finger knitting, party hats, Christmas ornaments, greeting cards, paper snowflakes. No charge. There will be door prizes and refreshments. Kenai Peninsula College closed for Alaska Civil Rights Day

In observance of Alaska Civil Rights Day, Kenai Peninsula College will be closed on Monday. Campuses and extension sites will re-open with normal hours on Tuesday.

Learn about foster care and adoption

A meeting to learn more about foster care and adoption will be held Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. at 145 Main St. Loop in Kenai. The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services offers monthly Resource Family Orientations to give interested individuals a brief overview of the state's foster care and adoption programs and process.
