Snowmachines allowed in Chugach Forest
The Johnson Pass motorized area on the Glacier Ranger District in the Chugach National Forest is open to snowmachines.
Snowmachines are cautioned to stay away from areas that are not snow or ice covered to avoid causing resource damage. Forest users are encouraged to call or stop by a forest service office for more information.
Anchor Point to hold luncheon
The Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Wednesday at the Anchor River Inn. Biologist Gino Del Frate with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game will be the guest speaker, discussing the proposed shooting range in the Anchor Point area.

Retired persons to meet
The American Association of Retired Persons Local No. 745 will hold a meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Kenai Senior Center. An installation of new officers will be held, and a lunch will be served prior to the meeting.

Historical meeting slated
A Soldotna Historical Society meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Building conference rooms A and B. Alan Boraas will present slides on area archeological digs. The meeting is open to the public.
KPC classes still available
Kenai Peninsula College registration will be held through Jan. 22. Registration is held at the Campus Bookstore between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Hospice event planned
Hospice of the Central Peninsula will present an auction and wine tasting event at 7 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Soldotna Senior Center. Tickets cost $37.50 per person and may be purchased by calling 262-0453.
Raffles and a silent auction will be held with all proceeds going toward hospice programs and services.
