This listing of Soldotna Community School classes beginning this week serves as a reminder for preregistered participants. Most classes require preregistration and prepayment. If you did NOT preregister, please call the Soldotna Community School office, at 262-6768, to check on cancellations and confirm your attendance. Details about each class can be found in the Spring 2001 Soldotna Community School brochure, which is available at Soldotna and Kenai public libraries, the city of Soldotna and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.
Children's Yoga (6-12 years of age): Class taught by Viveca Draper at Soldotna Martial Arts Academy at 5 to 6 p.m. for five weeks. Participants are asked to wear loose clothing, shorts, sweat pants, T-shirt. The cost is $25
Community Chorus for beginning singers: Class taught by Lois Holleman at Soldotna Middle School music room, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for ages 8-12, 8 to 9 p.m. for adults. No experience necessary. Groups will meet weekly. Those interested in accompanying choir on piano are encouraged to attend first session or call director at 260-3659.
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain: Class taught by Sue Kuhnsman at Soldotna Middle School, Room 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. for five weeks. Class designed for all skill levels. The class will teach participants to draw even though they have little talent and doubt they can learn. Materials needed include two drawing pencils, erasers, drawing pad. The cost is $40
Jewelry Making: Class taught by Terry McBee at Soldotna Middle School art room from 7 to 9 p.m. for eight weeks. Students create rings, pendants and other jewelry. The cost is $30.
Beginning dance instruction: Class taught by Dudley Abbott at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School multi-purpose room from 7 to 9 p.m. No cowboy boots or black-soled shoes. For more information, call Betty at 262-9387. The cost is $3 per night.
Gentlemen's Basketball: Soldotna Middle School gym from 7 to 9 p.m. for 10 weeks; Two courts; one slowbreak, one fastbreak. Pick-up games. The cost is $4 per night or punch card.
Toddler Time: Soldotna Middle School multi-purpose room from 6 to 7 p.m. for eight weeks. Supervision by parents is required. Parents are asked to bring P.E. toys to share. There is no cost for the class.
Open Photography Lab: Class taught by Jennifer Tabor at Skyview High School photography lab from 4:30 to 8 p.m. for six weeks. Participants can develop black-and-white film or print black-and-white negatives. There is limited dark room space, preregistration is required. The cost is $5 per night, including chemicals.
Introduction to Rock Climbing: Class taught by Bob Summer, Pete Campbell, Mike Gatling at Kenai Middle School gym climbing wall from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for six weeks. Instruction on safety, technique, ropes and slings. All proceeds to go toward equipment. For further information, call Bob at 262-6631 or Pete at 262-5223. Students under 18 must sign a release. The cost is $5 per night or $25 per series.
Indoor Soccer: Pick up games, sixth through eighth grade, Ed Thompson, facilitator, Soldotna Middle School multi-purpose room, 6 to 7 p.m., $2 per month.

Adult Co-Ed Recreational Volleyball: Class taught by Julie English at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School multi-purpose room from 7 to 9 p.m. for 10 weeks. The cost is $3 per night or $25 per series.
Parents and Kids Hoops: Parents and kids get together for basketball fun at Soldotna Middle School multi-purpose room from 6 to 7 p.m. for eight weeks. Supervision by parents required. There is no cost.
Scuba: Class taught by Ed Lindquist at Skyview High School pool during evenings, one night, for participants 15 years of age and older. Before entering pool each participant will be taught general scuba diving, breathing rules, equalization and regulator clearing. Each participant must bring a mask. A medical statement and release form are required. Call instructor after registration to schedule pool time, 262-6170. The cost is $30
Hallwalking: Tuesday through Thursday at Soldotna Middle School, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for teens and adults. The cost is $5 per month.
