ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The Wilderness Society has named a new Alaska regional director.
Eleanor Huffines will oversee the organization's work, said William Meadows, president of the society.
The Wilderness Society maintains a staff of three in Anchorage.
Huffines succeeds Allen Smith, who spent 13 years in the position. Smith will continue to work on Alaska issues as a senior policy analyst based in Olympia, Wash.
