BP Classic on chamber luncheon agenda

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce's weekly luncheon meeting will feature Corey Webster of BP Alaska, speaking about this summer's BP Classic fund-raiser. The luncheon will be at noon at the Riverside House in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-9814.

Comments sought on bike path

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is holding an informal open house today to discuss environmental and engineering studies under way regarding a proposed bike path along Bridge Access Road in Kenai. A description of the 3.3 mile long project will be followed by comments from the public. The meeting is at Kenai City Hall in the council chambers at 7 p.m.

Land user group to meet tonight

The Kenai Peninsula Public Land User Group will meet at 6 p.m. today in the Kenai Peninsula Borough Building in Soldotna. For more information, go to www.infinityx.com/kpplug.

League of Women Voters meets Thursday

The Kenai Peninsula Chapter of the League of Women Voters will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. in room C of the Borough Building in Soldotna. The guest speaker will be Borough Clerk Linda Murphy, who will give an update on redistricting. For more information, call 262-3913.

DAV chapter to meet Thursday

Chapter 5 of the Disabled American Veterans will meet Thursday at the Alaska Guard Armory in Kenai. For more information, call 262-0497 or 283-4359.

Sterling Community Club meeting coming up

The annual meeting of the Sterling Community Club will be held Thursday in the log cabin at the corner of the Sterling Highway and Swanson River Road at 7:30 p.m. There will be an election of three board members, and there will be planning for the winter fun day.

Dog racers to meet Thursday

The Peninsula Sled Dog Racing Association will meet Thursday at Bridges in Soldotna at 7 p.m. There will be drawings for the Ty Clark Memorial Sled Dog Race at that time.

Also on the agenda are election of two new members to the board of directors. Anyone interested in dog-powered sports is welcome to attend.

EDD board meeting set for Thursday

The Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District monthly board of directors meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the EDD building. It will be followed at 3 p.m. by an open house, with food and music.

The EDD building is at Mile 14.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway. For more information, call 283-3355.

Raising goats information offered

Raising goats as pets or for milk or meat will be the subject of a 1 p.m. Saturday meeting at the Cooperative Extension Office on Kalifornsky Beach Road.

Alumni of 1981 sought

Alumni from the classes of 1981 from Kenai and Soldotna are being sought for a class reunion, and volunteers are needed for planning the event. The next meeting will be at noon on Feb. 10 at Paradisos Restaurant in Kenai. The organizers are looking for contact information of classmates not living on the peninsula.
