Business, Citizen of The Year candidates named

The Homer Chamber of Commerce announced the ballot for the 2002 Business and Citizen of the Year awards. Nominated for Business of the Year are Bay Realty, Fritz Creek General Store, The Fringe and Smoky Bay Natural Foods. The ballot for Citizen of the Year includes Jilly Berryman, Dave Brann, Deb Germano and Mark Robinson.

The community was invited to nominate individuals and businesses for these honors in December. A chamber committee reviewed the nominations and created a ballot of four for each category from the nominations received. The ballots are open for community members to cast votes for the business and individual they would like to see earning the title for 2002. Ballots and ballot boxes are located at the chamber, city hall, Wells Fargo, First National Bank Alaska, Eagle, Fritz Creek General Store, Spenard Builders Supply and Ulmer's Drug and Hardware. The ballots are also online at but must be printed and faxed, mailed or dropped in a ballot box.

Voting is open through Jan. 27. The nominees will be honored and the winners announced at the January chamber mixer hosted by Era Aviation on Jan. 31, at the chamber. The awards mixer is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the chamber at 907-235-7740.

SBDC sponsors incorporating workshop

The Small Business Develoment Center is sponsoring a workshop entitled "Frequently Asked Qestions About Incorporating" Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Red Diamond Center, Suite 16. Attorney Dale Dolifka will be the guest speaker and will address issues such as knowing when to incorporate and starting the incorporation process.
