Longtime Cooper Landing resident Donald H. Murphy died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at his home in Cooper Landing. He was 69.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at St. John Neuman Mission Catholic Church in Cooper Landing. A gathering will follow at the community center.
Mr. Murphy was born Aug. 19, 1933, in Johnstown, Pa. He graduated from high school, then joined the U.S. Army. He received a medical discharge. He moved to Cooper Landing at a young age. He was a gun trader.
Mr. Murphy enjoyed guns, hunting, fishing and hiking. He especially loved his cars, a Trans Am and Corvette.
"He lived his life to the fullest, loving to hunt and fish. He used to say he should have been born years before he was so he could live off the land. He will be greatly missed, especially for the stories he told to friends and family about his hunting and fishing," his family said.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his daughters, Donna Susook and Lou Ann Murphy, and a brother, Jack Murphy.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
