Blood bank needs blood

The Blood Bank of Alaska has an urgent need for all blood types. Blood donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and be between the ages of 18 and 72 (17-year-olds accepted with parental permission). For more information, call the Blood Bank of the Kenai Peninsula at 260-5672.

Pratt Museum to host community conversation

The Pratt Museum will continue its Community Conversations program with "Winter Conflicts," facilitated by Deland Anderson, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday. For more information, call (907) 235-8635.

Aside from special events, the museum will be closed for maintenance and repairs throughout the month of January. It will reopen at noon Feb. 4. The business office will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Ring the doorbell for assistance.

Youth ski trip planned

The Kenai Recreation Center is planning several events for area youth this month. On Sunday, the Kenai Teen Center will sponsor a ski trip to Alyeska Ski Resort in Girdwood. The cost is $33 for transportation and lift ticket. On Jan. 25, the center will hold a karaoke contest and on Jan. 31, the center will hold a middle school dance from 7 to 10 p.m.

Folk dancers plan first dance of year

The Kenai River Folk Dancers will host a community contra dance Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School. Admission is $5; children under 16 are free with an adult. Potluck refreshments are encouraged. For more information, call 260-4171.

Alliance to meet

The Kenai chapter of the Alliance will meet Tuesday at noon at Paradisos in Kenai. Cost is $11, and reservations are encouraged. For more information, call (907) 563-2226.

Business center offers incorporation workshop

The Small Business Development Center will sponsor a workshop titled, "Frequently Asked Questions about Incorporating," frm 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Red Diamond Center, suite 16.
