Reel repair

Dennis Gregory, owner of The Reel Man, will instruct this class on the basics of working on and maintaining reels. Bring a reel to work on and any questions. Class is for ages 15 and up from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Soldotna Middle School room nine. The cost is $10. If a reel requires parts, the instructor may have them on hand, but any ordered parts will cost extra.

Tracking the Alaska Legislature and the U.S. Congress via the Internet

Allison Stogsdill, Kenai legislative information officer with the state of Alaska Legislative Affairs Agency, and Michelle Blackwell, special assistant to the Alaska congressional delegation, will provide instruction about tracking current and past legislation at the state and federal level. Learn how to access bill texts and histories, committee information, Alaska statutes and more. The class will utilize PCs. Class is for high-schoolers and adults from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Soldotna Middle School computer lab. There is no fee.

Palm handheld basis for the beginning user

John Pothast, Palm educational training consultant, will teach basic operations of Palms, including inputting dates, date book, address book, to-do list and memo pad. Class is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Skyview High School library. The cost is $5. There is a five-person minimum and 30-person maximum.

Rob building

Dennis Gregory, owner of The Reel Man, will help participants create their own custom fishing rods. Novice and experienced rod builders are welcome. Rod prices vary from $70 to $215 (no halibut rods). Class is for ages 15 and up from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Soldotna Middle School room nine. Cost is $25, plus materials.

Pillows from T-shirts and sweatshirts

Jennifer Tabor, family and consumer science teacher, will teach how to make pillows from T-shirts and sweatshirts. Bring a T-shirt or sweatshirt, two yards of ball or tassel pillow fringe and matching thread (sewing machines are provided, or participants may bring their own). Class is for teens and adults from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays for two weeks starting Thursday at the home economics room at Soldotna Middle School. There is a 10-person maximum. The cost is $10.

Pastry for everyone

This class has been canceled for Saturday. It will be offered Feb. 12.

Telluride Mountain Film Festival

There will be two showing of the Telluride Mountain Film Festival on Tuesday and Thursday at the Homer Mariner Theatre in Homer. Admission is $8 for one show or $14 for both for students, $10 for one show or $18 for both for adults and $30 for one show or $50 for both for families of four people.
