Business workshops set

The Small Business Development Center will hold a business start up workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 25 at Suite 12 in the Red Diamond Center. Participants will learn the basics of doing business. The fee is $15. Seating is limited. Registration is required no later than Monday.

Bed and breakfast association to meet

The Kenai Peninsula Bed and Breakfast Association will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. The topics will be planning for the summer season and fundraising ideas.

Child care training slated

Tom Copeland will conduct training for child care providers on best practices in operating a child care business. Topics include how to maximize profits by taking advantage of possible tax deductions, policies/contracts with parents and how to be protected from liability in a small business.

The training will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road in Soldotna. The cost is $8 if preregistered by Friday or $10 day of class.

Aromatherapy classes offered

Central Peninsula Hospital is offering the first two courses leading to certification in clinical aromatherapy through the Institute of Spiritual Healing and Aromatherapy from Jan. 25 through 27 and Feb. 1 through 3.

Children's cooking workshops offered

Children ages 6 to 12 may attend pint-size workshop cooking classes at 10 a.m. Saturdays at Allen and Petersen Cooking and Appliance Center in Kenai.

Admission is two cans of food or a $2 donation to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. A parent must remain during the 30-minute workshops.
