EDD board meeting and open house set for today

Public asked to voice opinion on arts
Public discussion on the need for an arts-education center in the Kenai area will continue today at 5 p.m. at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the reorganization and new focus of the Kenai Arts and Humanities Council and to seek qualified board members to get involved. The Peninsula Sled Dog Racing Association will meet today at Bridges in Soldotna at 7 p.m. There will be drawings for the Ty Clark Memorial Sled Dog Race at that time. The Kenai Peninsula Borough's Office of Emergency Management will conduct its alert siren test today at noon. This test is conducted the first Thursday of each month unless it's a holiday.

The last day to register for classes at Kenai Peninsula College is Monday. Registration can be done at the college library between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. today and Monday, or 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Phillips offers high school scholarships
The Phillips Alaska scholarship program awards more than $74,000 in scholarships to Alaska high school seniors annually. The deadline to apply for the 2001 Phillips scholarships is Jan. 25. Center to provide for those in need
The Independent Living Center will put together a Community Closet to provide those with disabilities with equipment at a low cost. The center is looking for donations of wheelchairs, walkers and equipment for vision and hearing impairments.
