Garnett powers T-Wolves

SALT LAKE CITY -- Kevin Garnett scored 23 points and Terrell Brandon had 19 points and 11 assists Wednesday night as the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Utah Jazz 89-81.

Brandon scored nine points in the fourth quarter and Anthony Peeler had seven of his 17 points in the final period as the Timberwolves snapped Utah's four-game winning streak.

Nuggets 121, Grizzlies 97

DENVER -- Antonio McDyess had 20 points and 20 rebounds, and the streaking Denver Nuggets overwhelmed the Vancouver Grizzlies 121-97.

Denver, which has won eight of its last nine games and 13 of 16, got 21 points from Nick Van Exel. Raef LaFrentz had 13 points, 11 of them in the first quarter when he also set the defensive tone with three blocked shots in the first 6 1/2 minutes.

Raptors 98, Spurs 91

SAN ANTONIO -- Vince Carter scored 27 points as the Raptors handed San Antonio its third straight loss. Mark Jackson added 23 points for the visiting Raptors.

San Antonio, which came into the game with the NBA's best home record, fell to 15-3 at the Alamodome as Tim Duncan scored 22 points and Derek Anderson had 20.

Jackson's 3-point field goal gave the Raptors a 93-88 lead and the Spurs missed five free throws over the final 1:58 and could get no closer than four points the rest of the way.

Nets 108, Wizards 89

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Keith Van Horn scored a season-high 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Stephon Marbury added 22 points as New Jersey handed Washington its eighth straight defeat.

The victory was the second straight for the Nets, who snapped a four-game losing streak Monday by beating the Atlanta Hawks.

Mavericks 91, Hornets 90

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Howard Eisley hit a 3-pointer as time expired to lift Dallas to a 91-90 victory over the Charlotte Hornets and snap the Mavericks' three-game losing streak.

Charlotte led 90-88 with seven seconds to play after Jamal Mashburn made one of two free throws. After a Dallas time out, Michael Finley inbounded the ball to Dirk Nowitzki, who spotted Eisley alone in the left corner and whipped the ball over to him. Eisley's shot swished through as the clock hit zero.

76ers 99, Bulls 88

PHILADELPHIA -- Allen Iverson scored 27 of his 43 points in the first half as the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Chicago Bulls.

Philadelphia won its fourth straight, 11th in its last 12 and improved the league's top record to 29-9. The Bulls have lost six straight and seven of eight.

Kings 111, Celtics 106

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Chris Webber scored 30 points and the Sacramento Kings negated Antoine Walker's 47-point performance by rallying in the fourth quarter and defeating the Boston Celtics 111-106.

Webber added nine rebounds and five blocked shots for the Kings.

Suns 89, SuperSonics 80

SEATTLE -- Jason Kidd and the Suns, beaten by 19 points by Seattle in Phoenix on Sunday night, returned the favor three nights later by defeating Gary Payton and the SuperSonics.

Outscored 22-3 by Payton in the teams' first meeting of the season, Kidd came back in Seattle with 15 points and seven assists to Payton's 15 points and six assists.
