Seward girls roll past Anchorage Christian Schools

The Seward girls basketball team picked up a 66-22 District 3/3A victory Saturday in Seward.

The Seahawks flexed their depth, with 11 players scoring. Anne Villard paced ACS with 13 points.

The Lions picked up a District 3/2A victory Saturday in Seward. Zack Madren had 25 points to pace ACS, while Hunter Hegge added 16. For Seward, Ryan Dieckgraeff had 22 points on six 3-pointers.

Heritage Christian Tournament

The Seldovia and Cook Inlet Academy boys and girls basketball teams finished up play at the Heritage Christian Tournament in Anchorage Friday and Saturday.

The CIA boys ended up with a 2-1 record for the tournament. Friday, the Eagles topped Seldovia 50-46 behind 16 points from Kyle Nettles, 12 points from Adam Cooper and 11 points from Jeremy Franchino. Charles Pulliam had 11 points for the Sea Otters, while Chance Collier added 12.

Saturday, Cook Inlet lost to Heritage, 63-52. Cooper had 20 points in that game, while Nettles added 17.

The Seldovia boys posted a 1-2 record at the tournament. After the loss to Cook Inlet Friday, Seldovia picked up its first win Saturday with a 58-42 victory over Delta Junction. Pulliam had 17 points in that game, while Chance Collier had 16 points and Colton Collier added 11 points.

Both the Seldovia and Cook Inlet girls finished 1-2 at the tournament. Friday, the two met and Tatiana Gruber scored 17 points to lead the Seldovia to a 37-34 win. Alyse Bell led CIA with 10 points.

Saturday, Delta held Seldovia scoreless in the first quarter en route to a 53-40 win. Catie Milligan led Delta with 16 points. Naomi Gallien led the Sea Otters with 14 points.

The CIA girls faced Heritage Saturday and lost 52-33, with Bell contributing 15 points.

Ninilchik boys 57, Homer Christian 52

The host Wolverines used a strong fourth quarter to pick up a District 3/2A victory Friday night. Ninilchik trailed by 13 entering the final period, but still was able to pull out a victory.

Conner Cooper paced Ninilchik with 19 points, including 11 in the final quarter. Jason Schollenberg added 15 points for the Wolverines, while Vince Kruzick pitched in 11.

For Homer Christian, Javan Halpin had 18 points, Miciaiah Ellert had 13 points and Shaun Seymour had 11 points.
