Hospice bereavement corrdinator, Sue Zurfluh, and executive director Marquitta Andrus, invite supporterss to attend the Hospice Winter Wine Event.
As the days start getting longer and weekend calendars fuller, Hospice executive director Marquitta Andrus and bereavement coordinator Sue Zurfluh encourage all Hospice supporters or supporter want-a-be's to circle the first Saturday of February to join them and the many local Hospice volunteers at their annual Winter Wine fun and fund raising event. "Especially this time of year before all the spring activities kick in, it's really wonderful to set aside one evening to come together with family and friends to have fun and help raise funds for the many programs that Hospice offers to our local community," said Andrus. Last year's event sold out a week ahead of time and Andrus is anticipating that to happen again this year, "There are already people calling our office and stopping by for tickets, so we expect to sell out early again this year and encourage folks to get their tickets early from our Hospice volunteers and board members," added Andrus.
One of the highlights of the evening is the spirited out cry auction conducted by venerable auctioneer Larry Van Ray. "There are also many wonderful silent auction items and the popular balloon pop for prizes, but the evening is also a great time to meet our volunteers and chat with friends and Marquitta and I about all the programs that are available now at Hospice. And of course this event is what keeps all those programs available," said Sue Zurfluh.
The Hospice Winter Wine Event will take place Saturday, February 5, at the Kenai Senior Center from 6-10 pm. Six gourmet appetizer courses, catered by Charlotte's of Kenai, will be complimented by fine wines throughout the evening. To purchase tickets, call 262-0453 or stop by the Hospice office behind U-Haul in Soldotna.
