AMVETS to meet

AMVETS Post No. 4 and its auxiliary will meet at the Red Diamond Center, No. 30, at 6 p.m. today. Finalization of plans for the construction of the new post home will be discussed. For more information, call 262-3540.

Title 1 workshop today

Corey Hall from the Kenai Community Library will host a workshop 6:30 p.m. today at the library for Title 1 parents. Hall has completed training with KAKM Public Television. Parents with students 8 years old and under who attend the training will receive free books for those students for the following five months.

Group offers stress relief for women

Peninsula Take A Break invites all women to a "Stress Busters" luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Solid Rock Conference Center. Rebecca Byerly of Central Peninsula General Hospital will share how to wake up body mechanics during dark winter days and Renee Duncan will sing. Ella Embree of South Africa will be the keynote speaker.

The cost of the luncheon is $8 and free child care is available. For reservations, call Carolyn at 262-4214 or Linda at 262-4996.

Brown bag lunch planned for agencies

The Interagency Council will meet Thursday at Hospice of the Central Peninsula in Soldotna, in the U-Haul building off the Kenai Spur Highway.

The meeting is a noon brown bag luncheon meeting. Representatives from all agencies in the area are invited to come and bring information from their agencies to share. This is a round-table discussion.

Meetings are held in different locations each month. Meeting announcements are sent out by e-mail. To get onto the e-mail list contact Barbara, volunteer coordinator at the LeeShore Center, at 283-9479.

RC and D to meet

The Kenai Peninsula Resource Conservation ad Development District will hold its annual meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday at 110 Trading Bay Drive, Suite 140 in Kenai. The meeting is open to the public.

Autism workshop scheduled

Frontier Community Services will hold an autism workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Building in the assembly chambers. Chris Crawford of the Special Education Service Agency will instruct.

Participants will receive increased understanding of autism spectrum disorders, including definitions, characteristics, early earning signs, causes and myths. For more information and a complete list of activities, call Jan Gauthier or Renie Aragon at 262-6331. Registration deadline is Wednesday.

T-200 volunteer orientation set

Tustumena 200 Sled Dog Race organizers will hold a volunteer orientation meeting for the 2005 race at the Tustumena Lodge in Kasilof at 6 p.m. Saturday.
