High school bowlers get rolling

The Kenai Peninsula Scholastic Bowling League began its season of high school bowling this week at AlaskaLanes in Kenai. Enrollment is open to all high school students in the area. There will be practice and matches two days per week. This will be a high school club this year with the focus on making bowling a varsity sport through the schools next year. Delta hockey tops Nikiski

The host Delta Junction hockey team defeated Nikiski 6-1 on Wednesday in Greatland Hockey Conference action. Nikiski’s lone goal came from Paul Delago, assisted by Beau Calderwood and Matt O’Brien, and made the score 2-1 with 11:27 left in the second period.

CIA drops game at Heritage Invite

The Monroe Catholic boys basketball team defeated Cook Inlet Academy 82-64 in the first round of the round-robin Heritage Invitational on Thursday.

John Forsi had 19 points for the Eagles, while Ryan Doyle had 18, Scott Litchfield had 11 and Shane Moffis had 10.

In other action at the tournament, Heritage defeated Dillingham 49-27.
