Police hunt suspect for cashing counterfeit state checks

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Anchorage police are looking for a man suspected of cashing $29,000 worth of counterfeit state treasury checks.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Steven Michael Reeves Jr. on forgery, burglary, theft and criminal impersonation charges.

Police say Reeves cashed the counterfeit checks in July. Investigators say he also has Alaska state ID cards bearing the names James Robertson, Eric Roberts, Patrick Kirk and Scott James.

Reeves, 24, is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. He has blond hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone has information about Reeves' whereabouts is asked to call Anchorage police at 786-8500 or Crime Stoppers at 561-7867.
