ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- A 36-year-old man and his infant son died in an early morning shooting Saturday in the village of Koyukuk.

Alaska State Troopers said Fabian Pilot was holding his two-month-old son, Stephan James Pilot, when they were shot in the Yukon River village 300 miles west of Fairbanks.

Trooper spokesman Greg Wilkinson said Norman Lolnitz, 19, of Koyukuk, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He was flown to Fairbanks and will be arraigned Sunday.

Wilkinson said troopers know of no motive for the shooting but that alcohol was a factor in the incident. He said Lolnitz fired a rifle twice.

Troopers were notified of the shooting by village health officials at 1:30 a.m.

The baby was declared dead at the scene. Fabian Pilot was medivaced to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 8 a.m.
