Kenai Peninsula Soccer Club seeks coaches

The Kenai Peninsula Soccer Club is looking for people willing to be coaches for area youth soccer teams. A meeting for those interested is scheduled for Monday at the Boys and Girls Club in Kenai. KPSC has established boys and girls under-12 and under-15 teams, and the club is interested in starting teams to compete in the under-14 and under-17 age groups. Player tryouts will be in late April, and the season runs through early August. The club plays in tournaments in Fairbanks and Anchorage and hosts a tournament on the peninsula. Open forum slated

The state of Alaska will conduct a review of the developmental disabilities services provided by Frontier Community Services at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the CARTS office at 43530 Kalifornsky Beach Road. The meeting is open to the public. To request an individual interview, call 262-6337 and leave a message.

Forum to be discussed at luncheon

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce luncheon will be held at noon Wednesday at the Old Town Village Restaurant in Kenai. The guest speaker will be Betsy Arbelovsky, executive director of the Economic Development District. She will inform the group about the 2001 Economic Development Forum. SBDC to hold workshop

An introductory workshop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Small Business Development Center in Kenai. The workshop will give a general overview about bidders list applications and points of contact for federal, state and local government. Special emphasis will be placed on new government initiatives in electronic commerce as well as preference programs for small, small-disadvantaged, woman-owned and veteran-owned business. It also will focus on the Historically Under-utilized Business Zone program, a new federal program designed to increase government contract opportunities in areas of high employment or low median income. Phillips scholarships deadline looms

The Phillips Alaska scholarship program awards more than $74,000 in scholarships to Alaska high school seniors annually. The deadline to apply for the 2001 Phillips scholarships is Thursday. Applications are available from counselors at Alaska high schools or by calling Phillips Alaska at (907) 263-4329.

Talent show applications available

Application forms for the 2001 Nikiski Talent Show are now available at Nikiski Middle-Senior High School or thew Nikiski post office. The show will be held March 3 at the high school. The deadline to enter is Feb. 16. For more information, call Darlene Gehrke at 776-3456.
