Public comment sought on teachers' contract talks
The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District's Board of Education will meet today at 7:30 p.m. in the Borough Building in Soldotna. People are invited to provide input during the public comment period on the upcoming contract talks between the district and the employee unions representing teachers and support staff.
All school board meetings are open to the public. Agendas are available at the meeting or at the district's Web site at www.kpbsd.k12.ak.us.
UFA rep to speak at CIAA
Robert Thorstenson Jr. of the United Fishermen of Alaska will speak at 7 tonight in the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association meeting room. The topic will be "The future of commercial fishing and how UFA can get us there." For more information, call CIAA at 283-5761 or UFA at (907) 586-2820.
Counseling service to hold annual meeting
Central Peninsula Counseling Services will hold its board of directors annual meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday at 506 Lake St. in Kenai. The public is invited to attend.
Workshop on workplace age differences set
Kenai Peninsula College invites the public to "From Ricky and Lucy to Beavis and Butthead," an informative and fun presentation on generational differences in contemporary American society. The emphasis will be on how those differences affect employers.
The speaker will be Robert Wendover, managing director of The Center for Generational Studies in Aurora, Colo.
The free presentation will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the KPC Commons at the Soldotna campus off Kalifornsky Beach Road.
Town and Gown banquet slated
The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will hold the 25th anniversary Town and Gown Awards Banquet, "A Salute to Our Unsung Community Heroes," at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Tickets are available through chamber board members. Cost is $30 each or reserve a table. For more information, call 283-7989.
