Central peninsula residents enlist

David L. Pierren Jr. of Kenai has enlisted in the United States Army as an armor crewman and has left for basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. Pierren attended the University of Alaska Anchorage and is the son of David Pierren of Anchorage and Cordie Watts of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Erik R. Tucker of Ninilchik has enlisted in the United States Army as a microwave systems operator-maintainer and has left for basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Tucker's enlistment choice and test scores qualify him for a $5,000 cash incentive, and he has enrolled in the Army College Fund for up to $50,000 toward full-time schooling. He is a 1999 graduate of Ninilchik High School and is the son of Robert L. Tucker of Beaverton, Ore. and Theresa L. Winter of Kasilof.

Kenai students named to Dean's List

Shevaun Marie English and Corie Lynn Weaver, both of Kenai, were named to the Dean's Honor List at Southern Oregon University for the fall quarter. Students named to the list must achieve a grade point average of at least 3.5 while taking 12 or more graded credits.
