Posted: Tuesday, January 21, 2003

The husband and wife team of Bob and Lora Martin were both selected to receive commendations from the State of Alaska Department of Health & Social Services Council on Emergency Medical Services for their outstanding contributions to the Anchor Point Volunteer Fire Department.

In their first meeting of 2003 the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly joined the State in honoring the Craigs for their achievements and unanimously passed a Borough resolution commending them for their special recognition from the State of Alaska.

Bob Craig was the first Fire Chief of the Anchor Point Volunteer Fire Department in 1979 and contributed countless hours to obtain funding for training and purchase of equipment for a new fire station and expanding the fleet of emergency vehicles.

Lora Craig became a volunteer dispatcher for the Anchor Point Fire Station in the mid-1980's and holds that position to this day. She is known to have her radio at her side 24 hours a day, 7-days a week. Additionally, Lora has filled many roles such as secretary to the Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Service Area and is a valuable support to the volunteer fire fighters.
