KPC director to speak at chamber

EDD plans meeting on timber industry

The Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District will host a public meeting at 2 p.m. today to discuss the reestablishment of the Kenai Peninsula Lumber and Timber Cooperative. All interested parties are welcome to attend the meeting at the office in the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road. For more information, call Andrew Schmahl at 283-3335 ext. 224.

District to hold public meetings

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will host public budget hearings at several locations on the peninsula. Meetings will be held at the Kenai Central High School library tonight; the Homer High School library Wednesday; and at the Nikiski Middle-Senior High School library Thursday. Center to host incorporation workshop

The Small Business Development Center will sponsor a workshop, titled "Frequently Asked Questions About Incorporating," from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Red Diamond Center, Suite 16. Attorney Dale Dolifka will be the featured speaker. The workshop costs $15, and one-day advance registration in required. For more information or to register, call Debbie at 262-7497.

Adoption information classes planned

Soldotna Community Schools is offering an two-class adoption series next week. Marilyn Mareno will discuss the step-by-step process of adopting an infant through Catholic Social Services, a nonreligious-based adoption program, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28. Then, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30, a panel of parents who have adopted newborns from several different agencies will share their experiences and answer questions. Both classes will be held at the Soldotna Middle School library, and the series costs $20.

Soldotna Community Schools also is offering a parent panel discussion on international adoption from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 11. Parents will answer questions about their experiences and the agencies they used to adopt abroad. Agencies discussed will include New Hope Child and Family Agency, World Association for Children and Parents, Heritage Adoption Agency and Chinese Children Adoption International. Families who independently completed adoptions internationally also will be represented.

The class will be held at the Soldotna Middle School library and the cost is $10. A minimum of five registered participants will be required to conduct the class. For more information on these programs, call Soldotna Community Schools at 262-6768.
