Many helped show support for National Guard troops in Iraq

Posted: Friday, January 21, 2005

On behalf of the 150 Alaska Army National Guard soldiers who were recently deployed to Iraq, we wish to thank Dala Walaszek, Scott Hamann and the Loyal Order of Moose for organizing the fund-raiser and providing the engraved Leatherman knives for Christmas. Each numbered knife engraved with "Alaska Supports You" and "Operation Iraqi Freedom" was a welcome gift showing your support. We wish a special thanks to the seniors at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center for individually wrapping each knife, and the children of the Soldotna Montessori Charter School for their letters and cards.

We would also like to thank our sponsors: Trustworthy Hardware, the Mackey Lake Company, ABATE, Agrium, Tesoro, Uptown Motel, the nurses at Central Peninsula General Hospital, Safari Club International, Sen. Tom Wagoner, Kenai Chrysler and the many individuals who provided personal donations.
