Anchorage Christian girls top Nikiski

Bulldogs grab 1-point lead after 1st quarter, but can’t hold on

Despite owning a one-point edge after the first quarter, Nikiski quickly fell behind by five at halftime in losing to Anchorage Christian Schools, 49-36, on Saturday in Anchorage.

Anna Simmons paced the Lions with 22 points and Chelsea Dyson netted 11.

Becca Carlson led the Bulldogs with 13 points.

Skyview girls 40, Houston 33

Tied at 29 after three quarters, the Panthers outscored the Hawks 11-4 in the final eight minutes in capturing a road victory on Saturday.

Nicole Van Ryzin led Skyview with a game-high 16 points and Melissa Fay added 12.

Jen Mason scored 13 points in defeat for Houston.

Wasilla girls 59, Homer 44

Anne Wesser scored a game-high 14 points in leading the Warriors past visiting Homer on Saturday.

Rachel Bornheimer had a team-high 13 points for the Mariners.

Dillingham boys 76, Cook Inlet Academy 55

Wass Tilden hit six 3’s and scored a game-high 41 points in leading the Wolverines past the Eagles in the Heritage Invitational on Saturday.

Ryan Larson collected 11 points and Charles Smeaton added 10 for Dillingham, which led by only two at the break.

Scott Litchfield netted 26 points for CIA, while Shane Moffis had 15 and Ryan Doyle chipped in 12.

Anchorage Christian School boys 109, Nikiski 47

Ten players scored for the Lions as they routed the Bulldogs in Anchorage on Saturday.

Chad Dyson led all scorers with 42 points, Joel Richwine added 15 and Yuri Tibbs had 11 for ACS.

Jesse Cook paced Nikiski with 15 points and Kenny Fagan scored 11.

Wasilla boys 63, Homer 39

The Warriors led by 18 points at halftime and never looked back in beating the Mariners in Wasilla on Saturday.

Tyler Johannes scored a game-high 16 points for Wasilla, while Dexter Pearce netted 13, Jesse Bean had 11 and Jack Troshynski added 10.

Deonte Powe paced Homer with 11 points.

Ninilchik boys 71, Seldovia 54

The Wolverines had three players reach double figures Friday night as they topped visiting Seldovia.

Dan Roderick paced Ninilchik with a game-high 22 points while Austin Vanderford scored 16, Sean Dwyer added 12 and Cody Presley chipped in nine.

Tim O’Leary scored 20 points for the Sea Otters, who actually owned a 27-24 lead at halftime. Griffin Swick added 13 points and Levi Harkness netted 10 for Seldovia.

Heritage boys 73, Cook Inlet Academy 39

Heritage outscored CIA 26-2 in the first quarter and owned a 46-17 advantage at the break in easily defeating the Eagles in the second round of the Heritage Invitational on Friday.

Steve Hanks scored a game-high 17 points for Heritage.

John Forsi netted 11 for CIA in the loss, while Moffis added 10.

Wasilla boys 63, Skyview 18

The Panthers managed only two points in the first quarter and eight in the second in falling to the Warriors on Friday at Wasilla.

Pearce and Jeremiah Collins each scored 14 points for Wasilla while Troshynski chipped in 11.

Gregor Bosick scored a team-high eight points for Skyview in defeat.

Seward boys 79, Nikiski 51

Caleb Adelmann collected a game-high 23 points as Seward outscored the visiting Bulldogs 23-11 in the final frame en route to a victory Friday night.

Also for the Seahawks, Mitch Harris and Trever Olsen each scored 11 points while Travis Price and Robert Perea added nine apiece.

Jesse Cook led Nikiski with 15 points, Evan Holloway scored 12 and Corey notched 10.

Ninilchik girls 52, Seldovia 38

The Wolverines turned a five-point halftime advantage into a 38-25 third quarter lead and held on to defeat the visiting Sea Otters on Friday night.

Krista Leman scored a game-high 23 points for Ninilchik, while Kayleigh Rice chipped in nine.

Jennifer Giles netted 14 points for Seldovia in the loss and Tatiana Gruber added 11.

Wasilla girls 57, Skyview 24

The Warriors jumped in front 19-9 after eight minutes and 32-12 at halftime in defeating the Panthers on Friday at Wasilla.

Jenna Johnson led Wasilla with 13 points and Ayla Brown netted 11.

Van Ryzin scored a game-high 15 points for Skyview in the loss.

Nikiski girls 49, Seward 17

Sherra Pritchard scored 10 points in leading the Bulldogs to a win over the Seahawks on Friday night.
