Ping pong returns

Ping pong is available at 6 p.m. Mondays at Redoubt Elementary School. All ages are welcome. Participants are asked to bring a paddle.

Group seeks members to support Obama

Alaskans for Obama will sponsor an information sharing and organizational meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at River City Books in Soldotna. It is open to the public. For more information, call Maya or Freya Chay at 283-9227.

FCS board meeting planned

Frontier Community Services will hold a board of director's meeting from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Soldotna Sports Center. Election of officers will be held and agency director's will report on the status of individual programs. For more information, call Kathy Kenner at 262-6331.

Cameras, photo printers sought

The Soldotna Rotary Club is seeking donations of working digital cameras and photo printers for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District's art program. Equipment may be dropped off at Sweeney's Clothing or Joe Kashi's law office.

Kids reading program continues

The Triumvirate Bookstore Frequent Reader Program continues. Kids can pick out one free book, a reading calendar and reading program rules at the bookstore in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. Bookstore hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Each time a reader returns their initialed calendar (weekly or monthly) to the bookstore, they can pick out another free book and get their calendar punched.

Donations sought for military personnel

The Peninsula Yellow Ribbon club is in the process of making thank-you gift baskets for returning soldiers and Marines. Community members interested in donating a gift, a gift card or making a thank-you card for the baskets may call Bill and Carol Keller at 262-0492 or 394-1072.

Arrangements may be made to pick up donations.

Community resource directory available

The LeeShore Center's community directory of central Kenai Peninsula resources is available for $25 with a three-ring binder or $15 for refill pages only. The directory lists more than 80 pages of information on emergency services, family support agencies, health facilities, senior citizens services and veteran's organizations.

Social Security reps to visit peninsula

The Social Security Administration makes monthly visits to the peninsula at the following times: first Tuesday of the month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kenai City Hall; third Thursday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Homer Senior Citizens Center; and the third Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Seward City Hall.
