SoHi adds hours to pool schedule

The Soldotna High School pool is open Saturdays for lap swim from 6 to 7 p.m. and open swim from 7 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 262-7419.

Registration open for music class

The Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula is accepting registration for its Music and Movement class. The class is open for children 3 to 5 years old and will meet Wednesdays for 12 weeks from 1 to 2 p.m. beginning Feb. 6. Cost for the class is $50, plus a $10 membership for new participants. Class size is limited to 10 children. For more information, call Kim Lee at 283-2682.

First aid class scheduled

The American Red Cross will hold a first aid and CPR class Thursday and Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building. Cost for the class is $58. For more information or to preregister, call Debra Holle at 262-4541.

Nominations needed for annual awards banquet

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its 43rd annual awards banquet Feb. 1. Nominations are requested for person of the year, business person of the year, excellence in profession, volunteer of the year, governmental and civic affairs and devoted service to young people and youth activities. To make a nomination or purchase a ticket for $25, call Kim at 262-9814.

Winter carnival planned in Homer

The Homer Winter Carnival will be Feb. 8, 9 and 10. The parade will commence at noon Feb. 9 at Homer High School. Entry forms are available at the chamber office and businesses interested in listing an event in the official calendar should fax the chamber at 235-8766 or call 235-7740 with a brief description and contact information. The deadline for submissions to the calendar is Monday.

Tickets available for Hospice fund-raiser

Tickets are available for the annual auction and wine tasting hosted by Hospice of the Central Peninsula. The event is planned for Feb. 9 at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center. Tickets cost $75 per couple or $37.50 per person and are available by calling 262-0453.

Developmental screening offered

Frontier Community Services Early Intervention will offer a free developmental screening clinic Feb. 9 for newborns to children 3 years old. For more information, call Renie Aragon at 262-3144.
