Foster care, adoption orientation slated

SoHi after-grad meeting set
The Soldotna High School after-graduation committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the teachers’ lounge. The after-graduation party will take place at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai from 11 p.m. May 26 to 4 a.m. May 27. The committee needs assistance with chaperoning, planning and coordinating activities, decorations and food.

Used book sale scheduled
Soldotna Public Library volunteers will host a used book sale from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Prices vary. Videos also will be available.
Special education rights to be discussed
Frontier Community Services will sponsor public meeting on the general overview of the special education rights for children who have disabilities Thursday at the Kenaitze Family House at 120 N. Willow St. in Kenai.
Topics will include IDEA, eligibility requirements, IEPs and complaint processes. Featured speakers will be Teresa Holt with the Disability Law Center of Alaska and Judith Bendersky with the Governor’s Council on Disability and Special Education. Kids’ craft fair set
Soldotna Community Schools and Soldotna High School National Honor Society
will host a free make it and take it craft fair for kids in grades kindergarten through six. It will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Soldotna Middle School. Activities will include Valentine arts and crafts, decorating cookies and face painting.
Wine tasting, auction slated
Hospice of the Central Peninsula will host its annual Winter Wine Event and Auction from 6 to 10 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. For more information or tickets, call 262-0453.
