ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Two people were killed in separate car crashes over the weekend, the Alaska State Troopers say.

John Kubanyi, 71, of Fairbanks, died Saturday evening from injuries suffered in a collision at Mile 328 of the Parks Highway.

Kubanyi was northbound at 5:15 p.m. when his car skidded into oncoming traffic, striking another vehicle, troopers said.

The driver of the second car, Douglas Wacker, 28, of Fairbanks, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. His wife, Kimberly Wacker, 26, was treated for leg injuries at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, troopers said.

In an unrelated accident Sunday, Teresa Bandy-Trone, 32, of Wasilla suffered fatal injuries in a single-vehicle rollover at Mile 3.6 of Bogard Road.

She hit a guard rail and her car rolled into a nearby gravel pit, troopers said. She apparently was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected, they said.
