KPC to show 'Gandhi'

The Kenai Peninsula College will show the film "Gandhi" at 6:30 tonight in the commons. The film focuses on the developing faith of Mohandas Gandhi in nonviolence. There is no fee. For more information, call Chris Gehrett at 262-0367.

T-200 volunteer dinner, orientation scheduled

Tustumena 200 Sled Dog Race organizers will hold a volunteer taco dinner and orientation meeting at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Tustumena Lodge at Mile 111.5 of the Sterling Highway. Volunteers are needed during the race weekend, with positions to be filled both indoors and out. No experience is necessary. The race is scheduled for Jan. 31 through Feb. 2. Sprint, skijoring races slated

The Peninsula Sled Dog Racing Association will hold the Bradford-Clark Memorial sprint races for five- and eight-dog teams and skijoring races for one- and two-dog teams from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the PSDRA trailhead, one mile down Funny River Road on the right. Look for signs. There will be cash prizes. Race sponsors are CIC Inc. and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10046.

SoHi prom planning meeting set

Parents of Soldotna High School juniors will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the library to plan the after-prom party.

Homer chamber to meet

The Homer Chamber of Commerce will meet from noon to 1 p.m. upstairs at the Best Western Bidarka. Topics of discussion will include the chamber's achievements in 2003, an introduction of new board members, recognition of outgoing board members, legislative information, the halibut derby and an annual report for the Alaska Small Business Development Center.

Fishermen's coalition to meet

The newly formed Alaska Fishermen's Coalition Inc. will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building. Agenda items for discussion will encompass a membership drive, goals for the first year and finalizing the articles of incorporation. All commercial fishers are encouraged to attend. Nikiski talent show seeking entrants

Nikiski Middle-Senior High School is seeking entrants for its 2004 Nikiski Talent Show on March 6. All ages and talents are encouraged to participate.
