Longtime Kenai resident Margaret Louise Cartee died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Heritage Place in Soldotna. She was 92.
A remembrance service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Heritage Place, 232 Rockwell Ave. in Soldotna. Her ashes will be buried at Grandview Cemetery in Anacortes, Wash., at a later date.
Mrs. Cartee was born May 20, 1912, in Anacortes. She graduated from high school and furthered her education by attending four years of nursing school at Everett General Hospital in Everett, Wash. She retired in 1975 from Island Hospital in Anacortes. She moved to Kenai in 1985 and spent her final nine months at Heritage Place.
"(She was) a great mother and a wonderful nurse, who had lots of great 'stories' from her nursing years for anyone who would listen," her family wrote.
Mrs. Cartee was preceded in death by her son, James "Skipper" Cartee; first husband, James Cartee; and second husband, Pat Cartee.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Cartee and Farol Dahmen of Nikiski; granddaughters, Kristi Dice of Redmond, Wash., and Karen Swanberg of Las Vegas; and great-granddaughters, Maggie and Hailey Dice of Redmond and Amanda and Megan Swanberg of Las Vegas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Cartee's memory to Heritage Place, 232 Rockwell Ave., Soldotna, AK 99669.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
