Kid’s craft fair set

Soldotna Community Schools and Soldotna High School National Honor Society will host a free make it and take it craft fair for kids in grades kindergarten through six. It will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Soldotna Middle School. Activities will include Valentine arts and crafts, decorating cookies and face painting.

Registration for lip synch begins

Showin’ Off the Kids 2006 is scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 11 at Soldotna High School


Showin’ Off the Kids is a lip synch and choreography contest sponsored by Soldotna Community Schools. Kids in kindergarten through eighth grade may compete to win cash and other prizes. Profits from the show go toward Soldotna Community Schools youth programs.

Applications are available at the Soldotna Community Schools office and online at Completed applications can be dropped off, with a two-minute taped selection, at the Soldotna Dairy Queen by Feb. 3. Full dress rehearsal is scheduled for 4 p.m. Feb. 10 at Soldotna High School.

Peninsula Fair quilters square off

The Kenai Peninsula State Fair is having a square off. Forty square kits are available at the fair office for $10 each and must be completed by March 1.

The theme is “A Fair to Remember.” People may be as creative as they like with their blocks, and all blocks will be judged. The blocks will then be put together into a quilt and raffled off.

Proceeds will benefit the Kenai Peninsula State Fair. For more information, call (907) 567-3670.
