Barrow cagers top CIA

Barrow completed a weekend sweep of Cook Inlet Academy on the basketball floor Saturday in Barrow.

The Barrow girls jumped out to a 20-3 lead after the first quarter in streaking to a 51-34 victory over the Eagles. Melissa Moffis had 17 points for the Eagles, while Samantha McNutt added 11 points.

The Barrow boys took a 25-6 lead after the first quarter in rolling up a 75-48 victory over CIA. Jeremy Franchino paced the Eagles with 20 points.

East hockey team tops Homer

The East hockey team defeated Homer 10-2 Saturday in a nonconference game at Ben Boeke Arena.

Sean O’Connor tormented the Mariners in the game. O’Connor scored East’s first three goals, then went on to score twice more and record two assists.

Homer, which was outshot 35-17, received a pair of goals from Justin Adams.
