CIA girls cruise past conference foe Lumen Christi

The host Cook Inlet Academy basketball team ran past Peninsula Conference foe Lumen Christi on Friday 51-11.

Kelsie Leaf led the Eagles with 10 points as nine Eagles got into the scoring column. Tiffany Smith had nine points, while Tiana McGahan and Megan Bauder had eight apiece.

Lumen Christi boys 59, CIA 56

Lumen Christi outscored the host Eagles 20-10 in the final quarter to secure a Peninsula Conference victory on Friday.

Justin Teel had 18 points to lead Lumen, while Ted Sturgulewski had 14 and Hugh Sturgulewski added 10.

For Cook Inlet Academy, David Reischach had 21 points, while Matthew Moffis had 15 and Cody Munn added 10.

Kodiak girls 55, Homer 19

The Bears rolled past the Mariners in Northern Lights Conference action in Kodiak.

Joanna Garcia had 13 points for Kodiak, while Megan Grupp had 12.

Kodiak boys 78, Homer 50

The Bears picked up a nonconference victory on Friday in Homer. Austin Cowely had 22 points for the Bears, while Raphael Matautia had 21 points.

On Thursday, Kodiak had defeated Homer in Northern Lights Conference action, 75-48. Cowley led the Bears with 16 points, while Devon Kennelty had 16 for Homer.

Seldovia girls 46, Nikolaevsk 34

Cheala Hills had 19 points for the Sea Otters as they notched a Peninsula Conference victory in Nikolaevsk. Sarah O'Leary added 16 points for Seldovia, while Sarah Geagel had 11.

For Nikolaevsk, Nianiella Dorvall had 12 points.

On Thursday, the Warriors lost to Unalaska 42-21. Nikolaevsk is Class 2A, while Unalaska is Class 3A. Asia Vernon had 17 points to lead Unalaska, which led just 18-13 at the half before a dominant second half. Dorval again paced the Warriors with 14 points.

Nikolaevsk boys 52, Nanwalek 41

The host Warriors used 22 points from Mark Fefelov and 12 from Eric Mametieff to notch a Peninsula Conference victory on Friday. Nikolaevsk opened by outscoring the Eagles 20-8 in the first quarter. Jace Evan had 12 points for Nanwalek.

On Thursday, the host Warriors lost a nonconference contest to Unalaska, 57-44. Andrew Seman had 23 points for Unalaska, while JJ Fernandez added 15. Mark Fefelov pumped in 16 points for the Warriors, while Mametieff had 11.

North Pole 46, Seward 43

The Patriots topped the Seahawks on Friday to move to the finals of the T-Bird Classic basketball tournament in Anchorage.

Josie Broderick had 13 points and 14 rebounds for North Pole, while Rachael Church added 12 points. Chelsey Clark paced the Seahawks with 11 points.
