ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man has been taken into custody in the shooting death of an elderly Nenana trapper.
The Alaska State Troopers said they arrested Mark Andrews, 25, Tuesday night at the Rescue Mission in Fairbanks where he had been staying since leaving Nenana last week.
Andrews will be arraigned on a charge of first-degree murder in the shotgun slaying of 62-year-old John ''Mackie'' Burk, troopers said.
Burk was found dead Jan. 14 inside his cabin on Nenana's ''J'' Street.
Three shots had been fired into the front door of the cabin. Burk was struck in the chest. It was Nenana's first homicide since 1993.
Robbery appeared to be the motive for the shooting, investigators said.
