Lip sync contest applications available
Applications for Showin' Off the Kids, a lip sync contest, are available at Soldotna area elementary and middle schools, Dairy Queen and in the Soldotna Community Schools class and activity brochure. Applications, with an audio tape, can be dropped at Dairy Queen.
The deadline is Feb. 10.
The full costume dress rehearsal is scheduled for 4 p.m. Feb. 28 at Soldotna High School and the performance will be at 6 p.m. March 2 in the SoHi auditorium.
Beer poems sought for contest
The Alaska State Council on the Arts and Borealis Brewery are celebrating National Poetry Month in April by holding a contest for beer-related poems. Winning poems will be printed on Borealis Beer labels and winning poets will receive a growler of Borealis Beer every month for a year. The entry deadline is April 15. Poems may be sent to the Borealis Brewery, 349 Ship Creek Ave., Anchorage, AK 99501.

Art festival looking for musicians, vendors
The KDLL Art and Music Festival is seeking vendors and musical acts to round out its program. Anyone interested in signing up or being a volunteer can call Allen Auxier at 283-8433.
The festival will take the place of and build on KDLL's Bluegrass, Brats and Brew Festival. The festival will feature bands, both local and statewide, arts and crafts booths, a beer and wine garden and activities for kids of all ages.
