Alaska's First Lady makes a request

Posted: Monday, January 24, 2011

Volunteerism and community service are vital and admirable components of each and every community. If you know an Alaskan who deserves to be honored for community service, I encourage you to nominate him or her for a First Lady's Volunteer of the Year Award.

Last year's award recipients ranged in age from 18 to 80 and exemplified those across our state who make volunteering a lifetime commitment.

Nomination forms are available at and at the Governor's regional offices. Awardees will be recognized in April.

Please take the time to nominate a well-deserving Alaskan.

Sandy Parnell, First Lady of Alaska
