Winnett, Mont., resident James Marion Dawson Sr. died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, from natural causes in Kenai. He was 70.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Eagles Aerie No. 35255 at 5765 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai. A private family service will be held in Montana at a later date.
Mr. Dawson was born March 24, 1936, in Sumner, Wash. He entered into the U.S. Army and served four years until he was honorably discharged. He worked as a recreational therapist for the state of Washington until he retired in the mid ‘90s. He was a Lutheran, member of the Elks Lodge for more than 30 years and enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards.
“Jim enjoyed his time fishing in Alaska and hunting at the family ranch in Montana. His close friendships remained strong throughout his life. Jim especially enjoyed the laughter and happiness he shared with his grandchildren,” his family said.
Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Gladis Dawson; brother, Chuck Dawson; and cousin, Howard Hanson.
He is survived by his sons, Jimmy Dawson and his wife, Lynne, of Kenai, Kevin Dawson and his wife, Kim, of Ellensburg, Wash., and Joe Dawson of Red Lodge, Mont.; sisters, Char Petersen of Orting, Wash., Peg Mauga of Puyallup, Wash., and Betty Maine of Graham, Wash.; grandson, Taylor Dawson of Ellensburg; and granddaughter, River Dawson of Kenai.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
